Getting Rid Of A URL Redirect Fast

A URL redirect virus was redirecting the www.facebook.com to a site that says I have been selected to win a iPad. Only thing I have to do is pay 3 dollars to have the quiz sms to me.

It looks real in the begining, but attempts to dismiss the site by typing www.facebook.com directly on the browser address bar bring back the malicious site that tries to rip me off via paid sms. This make me suspect that some malware has slip into my Windows 7 installation.

I could then start to scan the system with some antivirus software, but things like this takes ages to complete especially when you have a 20GB software installation.

My solution is simply to restore a known good version of Windows 7 from a disk backup I made with Acronis True Image Home Edition. It takes about 15 minutes. At the end I got back normal facebook access.

Disk backup has always been my preferred solution to handle virus and malware. Using antivirus software slow the system down, requires frequent signatures update and cost money.
